  • The waters of Divčibare

Divčibare is an area rich in water.
This region abounds in rivers, springs and streams that belong to the Kolubara and Zapadna Morava basins.
The Bukovska River rises under the hill of Golupec, flows through a picturesque gorge and receives the Crna River as a tributary.
The monastery rises under the King's table (1103 m.), the highest peak of the Maljen mountain, and forms a very beautiful Skakalo waterfall with cascades, about 20 meters high.
In several places below the eastern side of Golupac, the Crna Kamenica river springs up and flows through Divčibare in the narrower sense.
The two spring branches meet in the center of Divčibar, then flow below the market and the bakery, and then through a gorge full of rapids and waterfalls in a beautiful environment of black pines.
It flows further between the Malje hills, and in Tometa polje it meets Bela Kamenica, from which the river Kamenica originates, which flows into Zapadna Morava. Crna Reka originates from several streams that spring from the northern side of Divčibar. The 5-10 meter waterfalls are especially interesting. Other rivers of this region are Bukovska reka, Kozlica, Krčmarska reka, Manastirica, Paklenica and Bela Kamenica, which also flow through interesting gorges, enriching the hydrography of this region. In addition to rivers and streams, this area is also rich in numerous springs. The spring Žujan is unusual, because it is located in a vast marshy meadow. We should not forget the Hajdučka fountain on the hill of Čubrica, nor the source of Studenac. The water of this spring is very cold, which is why the spring is called Studenac. Cold air flows from the crack from where the water springs, so it is assumed that behind the spring there is a whole cave system that has not been examined to this day.
